Christian Education News
We have much to be very excited about. We were able to tour the new building on our first day of Christian Education (C.E.). The excitement abounds and the students are filled with it. We will be doing some new & very exciting things in C.E. this year. We will have a C.E. drama/worship team along with a tech team.
The Christian Education section of the newsletter will be much shorter. To improve communication with parents and families we will be mailing a C.E. newsletter to the homes of students with information, the Church Window Newsletter will be basic, general information. If you’d like a copy of the C.E. News, feel free to pick up a copy from the church.
IMPORTANT: We ask that parents please pick their students up from the break out rooms (classrooms). We are asking this so we don’t have younger students exiting the building without parental guidance, for safety factors.
Sunday School Curriculum & Class Layout
We have a wide range of classes for our Sunday School. They are setup by age group. Classes range from Toddlers to 12th grade. We start off Sunday School by meeting as Large Group for announcements and a skit or short devotion. We then go to our individual rooms to work on the weekly lesson plan. Each class covers the same lessons but with material appropriate to their age level. Our lessons may include stories, videos, crafts, games, work sheets, etc.. We strive to teach the kids about God and his love for each of us in a safe and fun environment. This years curriculum is from Live Big.
Drama Department
This is new for us this year. Our new addition has a stage and a large area for us to perform. In the past we have had a Dinner Theater, which was a HUGE success. We have also done other smaller scale skits for numerous services and human videos. A big part of this department will be the skits for Sunday School. The skits are put together and performed by the older classes which take part in the Drama Department. The 5th – 12th grade students meet with the Drama Coordinator during Sunday School time to learn about the lesson of the skit, practice and perform the skits for the rest of the students. This allows the older youth to still participate in Sunday School and still learn about Jesus’s teachings in a more interesting way. It also gives them the oportunity to start to become leaders themselves when they work with the younger children. Other individuals that are interested in theater can also be involve, by being leaders or helpers. We will be continuely looking at this opportunity for us to grow as a church and identify other opportunities for this department to help share God’s word. Christian Education Team
We have a team made up of several individuals from the church that meet monthly to plan out all aspects of our Christian Education Department. We plan out all curriculum for Sunday School, VBS and other special events (Family Day, Rally Day, Easter Programs, Halloween Hoopla, Christmas Programs, etc..) We do alot of fun activities through out the year and it is wonderful to be involved with other individuals that have the passion to see the children grow physically and spiritually.
