TASTE OF WORSHIP

We’re happy to see more & more people enjoying the coffee, tea & hot chocolate available prior to worship. We’ve been asked, if we can take this into worship, yes you can.  We also have a portable cabinet being made for Taste of Worship, but in the meantime we will continue to use the tables.  Taste of Worship is an effort to help ease the rush of Sunday morning, adding comfort to the worship experience, and you can still enjoy your morning beverage.

We’re looking forward to having our cabinet in the near future.  We ask that EVERYONE please use lids on the cups so we minimize spills.  We have started selling “travel” cups to use weekly. They are available to purchase for $5.00 and will help us GO GREEN!  Bring your mug each Sunday & fill it up before worship. They will also make wonderful gifts, or just to have an extra mug for convenience.

FREE COMMUNITY DINNER    (Next meal is Mar. 17th 4:30 – 7:00)

We hosted our 2nd “Come for Supper” Community Dinner on Feb. 17th from 4:30-7:30.  We had wonderful weather and even with this being held on Ash Wed., we had an awesome turnout.  We served around 213 people which is almost 100 more than last month and had alot more wonderful feedback from people attending.  We had a great turnout of volenteers from throughout the community.  We give a sincere thank you to everyone that helped, donated, prayed, attended, shared the information, whatever, THANK YOU!

The next meal will be held on Mar. 17th at 4:30 – 7:00.    We will be serving Cavatini, Garlic Bread and veggies.  This event is held in the Fellowship Hall at the Fennimore United Methodist Church, but this is a Community held event for the Fennimore Community.  Volenteers are from around the Fennimore area, including numerous churches and other social groups.

Again, this is a community event, not just FUMC and we have a good core group of individuals that are leading these events.  If you are interested in more information or have questions, please contact Kevin Klais. If you’d like to make a donation please contact Sherry Kieler or Barb Kohout. If you’d like to help with one of the meals please contact Pauline Ames, Jackie Wehrle or Nancy Wells.  If you have questions, comments, ideas or would like to donate toward the dinner please contact one of the HAVE FAITH team members.

 EMAIL ADDRESSES

One very IMPORTANT piece of information that we need for EVERYONE if possible is an email address. Many people communicate via this way and it is inexpensive and cost effective. We’d like to use more emails and have people reference the website more often, as it is a wealth of information. Please send your email addresses to either zintzrenee@netscape.net or padney@tds.net.  Again, this is for EVERYONE, not just C. E. age families. This is for church wide usage. If each family has separate emails please send them all.  In the near future we will be enrolling for VBS and we will be able to do this online as well, therefore an email address is pertinent information. To help us, we will be sending a clipboard around during worship services to obtain this information. Thanks for your help, its greatly appreciated.

FOOD PANTRY NEEDS

The Depot Food Pantry served about 30 families in February. The shelves need a little help getting restocked. If you’d like to help out with donations a few of the items of specific need are:

Canned Fruits
Soups
Baked Beans
Spaghetti
Ramen Noodles
Noodles – all types & sizes

Also, if you know someone that may benefit from the food pantry please have them contact Pat or Stephanie at the Depot. The referral process is very simple and can be very helpful.

MOM’S IN TOUCH

FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN

BAKE SALE

Because of the great response last year, the Christian Ed. Team & Families will again host a Bake Sale during the Easter services. We will have baked items available at the Holy Thursday service, Good Friday service and additional items on Saturday morning from 9-11:00. If you have a “special request” please contact Jackie Wehrle.

Fellowship Groups Sponsored 6 – 8 Grade Girls Basketball Tournement

FRIENDS IN FAITH & TGIF hosted the 2nd Annual 6th-8th grade girls basketball tournament on Saturday, 2/27.  We had a wonderful turnout for this event.  Congradulations to the Fennimore teams, which were overall winners for all 3 grades.  As ussual, we had a lot of help from many volenteers to make this event possible.  All together we raised in the area of $2000 from this event.  Thank you to everyone that helped in any way with this event.  Your hard work is very much appreciated.

Other Fellowship Group News

A new Fellowship Groups bulletin board has been created.  Check it out when you get a chance.  If you’re interested in joining a fellowship group, please contact the church office or look on this site under Fellowship Groups and find the group that you are interested in and contact the appropriate contact for that group.

Small Group

Live Like You Were Dying small group has completed their 4 week study. It was beneficial and well attending. If you’re interested in attending a small group or would like to lead one, please contact Renee.
ESSENTIALS OF DISCIPLINE – We’ll be conducting another small group but this one is for those with children or grandchildren. It is NOT just for those with younger/smaller children its for any family of all ages. Developed and lead by Dr. James Dobson, it has a “home base” with Dr. Dobson, an interactive section for participants and a brief Bible study. This is a 12 week study, however, we may hold it during the Christian Ed hour, on a couple Saturday mornings or whenever it works best for the majority. If you are interested in attending this study, please contact Renee. We have not set dates or times and aren‘t sure when it will be held.

The Great Equator Challenge

Around the earth in 100 days… that’s the challenge for people living, working, or going to school in the Fennimore area. The Greater Equator Challenge is a community-wide event to encourage regular exercise for all ages. The ultimate goal is traveling the distance around the earth — almost 25,000 miles.

Reaching that goal is all about a community of individuals setting personal walking or running goals and reaping a variety of health benefits together. Step out and do your part to help Fennimore meet “The Great Equator Challenge!”
