Tuesday night I was reminded what addiction can bring…
My mind wandered to terrible hangovers, waking up not remembering how I got there or where I was, arguments, lost friends, loneliness… The deeper the addiction, the lower I went… until I hit rock bottom.
Getting shot, nearly dying, arrested, jail, court, trial, prison, stabbed, hopelessness, no light at the end of the tunnel. Lord, don’t give up on me…
Her name is Tayla Lynn. She performed with Tre Twitty at the Dubuque County Fair Tuesday night. Yes, they are the grandchildren of Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty. They sang a lot of Conway and Loretta’s songs and it was an awesome concert.
What a lot of people do not know is that Tayla Lynn fought many addictions and is over 8 years sober. At one point she was an 82-pound crack and heroin addict. Now she is on stage performing across the country, showing that one can overcome what sometimes seems impossible to overcome. What an inspiration.
Take the time to check out her story. She is an inspiration. Especially listen to her song about overcoming addiction: “Lord Don’t Give Up On Me”.
Tuesday night I said “Thank You Lord for not giving up on me!”
Tuesday night I was reminded that there is always hope. Surrender it all to Jesus. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit WILL give you the strength to overcome.
Tuesday night I remembered that the Lord didn’t give up on me and here I am today. Someone out there needs to hear this: the Lord is not going to give up on you! God bless and God’s got this!
